A prayer request

Hey, everyone! In case you haven't heard yet, Kelly and I are expecting a baby boy on April 20th. We are quite excited to meet little Soren James Lorenz. Unfortunately, Soren takes after his big sister and wants to come out a tad earlier than he should. Kelly has been visiting a high risk doctor during this pregnancy (for obvious reason), and they've been watching her carefully. In the past few weeks, Kelly's cervix has shortened from 3cm to 2.2cm, requiring her to be on strict bed rest for at least the next three weeks. No. Fun.

Soren is currently 25 weeks and 2 days, weighing in at 1 lb. 10 oz., and if you followed Brooklyn's story you know that EVERY day, if not every hour, counts towards building a healthy baby at this period of development. We are praying that Soren stays put until at least 28 weeks since this is the first danger zone exit. Both Soren and momma are healthy, but definitely would appreciate your prayers! Also, if you know any "stay where ya are, kid!" rain dances, that would be bodacious as well.

  7. OK, this is crazy - We are in almost exactly the same boat! I am pregnant, with a girl, due April 23! Same issues, not on bed rest yet, but fear it's inevitable.

High risk doctors are always extra cautious, and 28 weeks is not far away. You can do it! If it's any consolation, my mentor mom had a 24 weeker first time around and went full term for the second!

I know all too well how hard it can be on you, but hang in there. We're thinking of you and hoping for the best. Hopefully we won't be NICU buddies again :) but I'm here if you want to talk. You can reach me on email (katestein@yahoo.com).

    Love to your whole family,
