latest update
well, your thoughts and prayers are working! we went to the dr. today and my cervix was longer!! we couldn't believe it. the dr. explained to us that the cervix doesn't actually grow longer, but that the uterus relaxes, so it appears longer. or something like that! but the important thing is that the bed rest is working!! i am now 27 weeks and 1 day, and am so hopeful that little soren will stay in and grow for a while longer. :)
on another note, brooklyn started daycare this week. she is going 2 full days now, and LOVES it! she comes home so happy and exhausted! i must admit, letting her go on the first day was PAINFUL. but seeing how much she loves it makes me so happy.
here are a few images of her with her most favorite hat - thank you ashley ;)

whoa....
Those of you who know me are probably aware of my skeptical nature when it comes to things like prayer or pinning things on God that are probably just good ole-fashioned coincidence or probability. That said, I do indeed believe prayer matters and does make a difference! Well, as much as I would like to raise a furrowed brow at the following story it is hard to deny that something bigger was afoot. So here is what happened.
Last night at around 5:30am I woke up in a panic. I felt an urgency to plead the case of our little unborn son, asking God for some sort of miracle to keep Soren inside his momma for at least another day. Well, it turns out that I wasn't the only one waking up at around 5:30. Kelly received a number of calls/emails/texts from several people saying that prayers were being beamed across the universe at the same time. I know of four people woken up at around the same time. Crazy, huh? I don't know what was happening to our little boy at 5:30am, but I bet there was some kooky stuff going on in that tummy!

our baby is TWO!!!!
i can't believe it! TWO!!! being on bed rest does not make it easy to host a party, so i didn't! we canceled it, but still had a great day. brooklyn ate chocolate all day long, and instead of cake, she wanted chocolate ice cream. the apple doesn't fall far from the tree :)
we have had some visitors the past few days, and brooklyn has been loving it!

A prayer request
Hey, everyone! In case you haven't heard yet, Kelly and I are expecting a baby boy on April 20th. We are quite excited to meet little Soren James Lorenz. Unfortunately, Soren takes after his big sister and wants to come out a tad earlier than he should. Kelly has been visiting a high risk doctor during this pregnancy (for obvious reason), and they've been watching her carefully. In the past few weeks, Kelly's cervix has shortened from 3cm to 2.2cm, requiring her to be on strict bed rest for at least the next three weeks. No. Fun.
Soren is currently 25 weeks and 2 days, weighing in at 1 lb. 10 oz., and if you followed Brooklyn's story you know that EVERY day, if not every hour, counts towards building a healthy baby at this period of development. We are praying that Soren stays put until at least 28 weeks since this is the first danger zone exit. Both Soren and momma are healthy, but definitely would appreciate your prayers! Also, if you know any "stay where ya are, kid!" rain dances, that would be bodacious as well.

Happy New Year!
we hope you all enjoyed the holidays. we certainly did. we are STILL exhausted from all of the past weeks events, but have been having so much fun. Brooklyn loved Christmas this year, and had so much fun showing off her ornaments to everyone who visited. She LOVED opening presents, and is having a blast playing with all of her new toys. we also had lots of visits with family and friends, which was so great.
